HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
IN TURKEY

Hair transplantation is a natural and permanent solution to the problem of thinning and baldness in people with hair loss or hair loss. The process of transferring healthy hair follicles to areas where the hair follicle is no longer active and where balding occurs, using microsurgical methods is called hair transplantation. In hair transplantation, the patient's own healthy hair is added to the spilled area. Hair transplantation is planned and applied completely individually.

WHAT IS HAIR TRANSPLANTATION?

Hair loss is an important problem that starts at an early age today. The problem of hair loss, which is commonly seen in men from the twenties, can also be seen in women in some cases. Hair loss, which starts as thinning of the hair and regression of the anterior hairline, may develop due to genetic reasons in men and hormonal reasons and some diseases in women. People with hair loss complaints should first go through a health screening and find out if there is a health problem that causes hair loss. If health problems such as vitamin and mineral deficiencies and hormonal problems that may cause hair loss are detected, treatment should be applied first. If the shedding continues after the necessary treatments are applied, or if the hair has opened at a level that cannot be healed, hair transplantation can be performed. Today, ethically, hair transplantation over the age of 22 is considered appropriate if needed. For this reason, all individuals over the age of 22 who have hair loss problems can easily undergo hair transplantation.

WHY DOES THE HAIR FALL OUT?

Hair loss may occur due to various reasons such as hormonal disorder, seasonal cycles, iron or vitamin deficiency, genetic predisposition. It is considered normal for adult individuals to shed 50-100 strands per day. Hair strands, which have a certain natural cycle, fall out on their own every 4-6 years, and then healthier hair comes out from the hair follicles. However, continuous and excessive hair loss can be a sign of serious diseases. At the same time, the causes of hair loss in men and women may differ. In men, genetic factors often play a role in hair loss after puberty. In women, chronic stress, hormonal disorders, unbalanced diet, various skin problems, cosmetic products and some drugs can cause hair loss. Hair loss may increase in women during childbirth, breastfeeding and menopause.

HOW IS HAIR TRANSPLANTATION PERFORMED ?

In practice, hair follicles taken from the nape are transplanted to the targeted bald area. These hair follicles taken are called grafts. In rare cases, there is not enough healthy hair in the neck or temple area of the person. In such cases, hair follicles can be taken from other parts of the person that contain hair, such as the arms or chest wall. The application takes place in a few hours depending on the amount of hair loss. If the balding area is very large, several sessions may be required to complete the treatment.

Generally, the intervention is performed under local anesthesia with sedation. After hair transplantation, a special bandage is applied to the head. The person is discharged after 1-2 hours. Although it is very rare, pain relief is controlled with painkillers. Generally, after 3 days of home rest, it is possible to return to business life with the head covered. The first dressing is done on the 5th day.

WHAT ARE HAIR TRANSPLANTATION METHODS?

In hair transplantation, different methods are used in the collection and placement of grafts. These methods are the latest applications that are carried out in the light of technological developments and differ according to the size of the area to be planted. Methods used in transplantation ;

  • Multi-Implanter hair transplantation

  • FUE hair transplant

  • Unshaven hair transplant

  • Hair transplantation in women

  • DHI hair transplant

HAIR TRANSPLANTATION WITH FUE METHOD

FUE method, which is an innovative application technique in hair transplantation, is a technique that is frequently used today and allows the transplantation of chest and back hair. In this technique, a micro motor is used, since these tips are 0.6 - 0.7 mm, there is no scar on the back of the neck or where the hair follicles are taken, and the patient feels much less pain after the operation. Since local anesthesia is applied before hair transplantation, the patient does not feel any pain during the operation.

The FUE method consists of several steps. First of all, the hair is cut to a length of 1 mm in order to better detect the hair follicles and to see the area where the hair transplant will be done more clearly. The hair in the chest, back or nape area, where the hair follicle will be used, is also shaved to 1 mm in length. Then, the area to be treated is anesthetized with local anesthesia so that the patient does not feel pain, and the area is prepared for the operation. The micro-motor tip is immersed in the skin to center the hair follicle, and the hair is removed together with the follicle and the surrounding tissue. This whole structure is called a "graft". While the graft was limited to a single hair follicle at the beginning of the method, thanks to the developing hair transplantation technology, 1 to 3 hair follicles can be removed at once, which means that the operation times are getting shorter. After the hair follicles are removed, they are kept in a special solution until the transplantation process in order not to suffer any damage. Depending on the width of the area to be transplanted and the adequacy of the donor area, approximately 1000-2800 grafts, that is, between 2500-7500 hair strands, can be transplanted in one session in the FUE technique. During the transplantation process, the direction of hair growth and the hair structure of the patient are also taken into account, and it is aimed to restore the hair to its natural state after transplantation.

After the transplantation is completed, the patient is discharged after dressing the operation area. These hairs, which are taken from different regions and transplanted to the desired region, adapt to the hair characteristics of the region to which they are transplanted and continue their life with the same appearance.

HAIR TRANSPLANTATION WITH DHI METHOD

Another hair transplant technique that has become popular recently is DHI hair transplant. Hair transplantation with DHI, also called unshaven hair transplantation, does not require shaving the hair, as the name suggests. The purpose of the DHI hair transplant method is to focus on the openings in the areas where the hair is sparse, without damaging the existing hair, and to perform a more frequent and more natural hair transplant. In the DHI method, besides giving the hair a natural appearance, it is also aimed for the patient to return to his daily life as soon as possible. Before the transplantation process is started, the area to be transplanted and the donor area are analyzed in a computer environment with a high resolution camera. The purpose of the analysis is to determine the hair type, shedding density, the density of the area to be transplanted and the amount of roots that can be taken. As a result of the analysis, the hair is cut a little and the design of the area to be planted is made. Then, local anesthesia is applied to the donor area so that the patient does not feel pain, and the nape area is numbed. Then, the hair follicles are taken with micro-tips and kept in a solution that will both increase the health of the hair follicles and prevent them from being damaged. After the root removal process from the donor area is completed, local anesthesia is applied to the area where the planting will be made.

After the completion of the anesthesia process, the grafts placed on the micro-tips are started to be planted from the front of the designed area to the sparse areas in accordance with the direction and natural structure of the hair. The purpose of the DHI method is to protect the existing hair and plant new hair, and the process is completed without any damage to the existing hair. Since there is no channel opening in this method, the crusting time is very short and in parallel, healing takes place faster. A small amount of crusting is completely shed within a week. Hair loss occurs between two and three weeks. With the third month, the transplanted hair begins to grow slowly and by the sixth month, most of the hair has grown. After the completion of one year, the hair starts to regain its natural appearance and the transplanted roots do not shed again.
